Internship Opportunity: French Beans Farming Position: Agricultural Interns
Location: East-Kayonza-Mwili
Duration: 1-3 months Start Date: 01/04/2025

Green Agribusiness Network in Africa and HEZA Ltd (GANA HEZA) is a leading agricultural organization committed to advancing sustainable farming practices. We specialize in the production and cultivation of high-quality French beans, a highly nutritious and marketable crop. Our mission is to empower young farmers and promote innovative farming techniques to improve yields, efficiency, and sustainability. As part of our youth empowerment program, we are offering an internship for young, dynamic, and motivated individuals who are passionate about agriculture and eager to learn more about French beans farming. Internship Overview: This internship provides an exciting opportunity for hands-on experience in French beans farming. Interns will work closely with our experienced agricultural team to learn the entire farming cycle of French beans, from seed selection to harvesting. You will also be involved in monitoring crop health, learning about sustainable farming practices, pest management, irrigation techniques, post-harvest handling, and market access.
Responsibilities:
1. Assist in preparing land for French beans planting.
2. Participate in the planting process and ensure the optimal seed spacing and depth.
3. Learn about irrigation systems, soil management, and water conservation techniques.
4. Monitor crop growth and health, identifying pests and diseases.
5. Assist in implementing pest control measures, both chemical and organic.
6. Support in harvesting and post-harvest handling of French beans.
7. Record and maintain farm data related to crop yields, weather patterns, and growth rates.
8. Gain exposure to the commercial aspects of French beans farming, including packaging and market distribution.
9. Contribute to sustainability efforts, including soil health management and eco-friendly farming practices.

Note: There is no stipend allowance for interns
Eligibility:
- Youth aged between 18 – 28 years
- Strong interest in agriculture and sustainable farming practices.
- No prior experience necessary; however, those with basic knowledge of farming will be given preference.
- Must be proactive, willing to learn, and ready to work in outdoor field conditions.
- Qualifications (Preferred but Not Required):
- A background or coursework in agriculture, horticulture, or a related field.
